The Northfield Downtown Development Corporation (NDDC) is hosting an
evening meeting Tuesday, February 17, at the United Church of Christ Assembly Room at 7:30 PM. This meeting will present and discuss a financial program to help with the rigors of downtown storefront improvements.
For those downtown business owners who have wondered how to find the time and money to enhance the outside of their store or business, the NDDC has come up with a solution. Working in partnership with Northfields Economic Development Authority (EDA), the Economic Expansion and Redevelopment Committee of the NDDC crafted a proposal to revise the terms of the City of Northfields Downtown Revolving Loan Fund. The program now has fewer qualification hurdles, lower minimum loans, and lower interest rates.
Storefront improvements that could be financed with this program might
include painting, doors, windows, awnings, lighting, flower boxes, and signage. The evenings program will draw special attention to storefront signage. Representatives of the Heritage Preservation Commission, the EDA, the City of Northfields Community Development Department, and local signmakers will be on hand to offer insight and answer questions.
There will also be an opportunity for downtown building and business owners to voice their opinions on other issues that they feel are important to the long-term health and vitality of downtown Northfield.
