The next NDDC Monthly Meeting is scheduled for June 1 from 8-9:30 AM. We will have two guest speakers, both of whom recently joined the City of Northfield staff as department directors. Heidi Hamilton is the new Director of Public Works and Howard Merriam is the new Director of Resource and Park Planning.
Hamiltons responsibilities include developing plans for sanitary sewers, potable water, surface water management and transportation in Northfield. As Northfields population increases with lots of young families and more Twin Cities commuters, these are critical needs. Heidi previously worked as an engineer for the city of Minneapolis.
Merriam, a landscape architect by training, has worked as project manager for the Bayfront Festival Park in Duluth and on projects such as Knotts Camp Snoopy at the Mall of America and the Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake. His first priorities in Northfield include the proposed Mill Towns Bike Trail trailhead project and a crosswalk system downtown.
This will be a great opportunity to find out about summer projects in the public spaces downtown and to ask questions about plans for future downtown public improvements.
Our meeting, as usual, will be held in the Riverview Conference Room of the Archer House (lower level). Coffee and a light snack will be available. Bring a friend!
