Northfield has a tradition of doing this celebration particularly well. It probably helps to have an Authentic Downtown,a central gathering place beside a Wild and Scenic River, and a nifty City of Northfield Showmobile (shown here being assembled in the background) set up in Bridge Square. This year is no different.
The celebration starts off tonight (July 3rd) with a series of performances in Bridge Square. From 5 pm to 10 pm the music will be brought to us by Willie Grgory-Bjorkland and Sonicate, Siobhan Meehl, the Anonymous Jazz Trio (Joe Strachen, Andrew Tiano and Sean Prichard) and Down Lo.
Tomorrow (July 4th), the activities start at 9 am with an All-American Flea Market in Ames Park. The action moves back across the river to Bridge Square with the Mexican Folkloric Dancers, the Yankee Doodle Parade and Carnival, Somdel Caribe, the Ellen Keane Dancers, String Fever, the Zillionaires, Tim Snow, Steve Jennings’ All Star Band, the Presentation of the Colors and FIREWORKS.
