The weather was perfect, the location (the heart of our community) was ideal, the food was delicious and the socializing was delightful. Based on the food sales by vendors, and foot traffic for retailers, over 750 people attended the NDDC’s “First Annual” Taste of Northfield…just enough to make it feel exciting, not so many that it felt too crowded.
Food was provided by J. Grundy’s Rueb-N-Stein, the Quarterback Club, Tiny’s Dogs All Day, Basil’s Pizza, James Gang Hideaway, Chapati, Just Food and Bittersweet. A number of people told me that they blew their diets that evening as they just couldn’t pass up taking several “tastes” of Northfield.
Even those of us who are absolutely in love with downtown were reminded once again of the incredible potential power for community building that Bridge Square provides us. For over three hours on Thursday night, it served as the backyard barbecue and neighborhood gathering place for the whole town.
As I said before, we sure had fun.
