The 4th Annual ArtSwirl begins tonight…
…in Downtown Northfield.
At 5:00 “or so”, local artistic volunteers and Contented Cow regulars, will pose for a picture to be shot by darn-near-amateur City Councilor and truly-professional photographer Scott Davis. It’s based on the Pierre-Auguste Renoir painting (at left), “Le Dejeuner des Canontiers”, which is French for (I think) “Guys Flex Muscles while Women Sip Wine”. The photograph will be titled “Contentement sur la Riviere Canot”, which ArtOnWater Gallery impressario Dean Kjerland tells me means “Contentment on the Cannon River”.
After the photo session is completed, they’re all going to take the alley to the Northfield Arts Guild to participate in the reception for “A Look Now: Painting, Drawing, Sculpture” by Jill Ewald, local artist, St. Olaf professor, and director of the Flaten Art Museum.
