Visual Artists Storm the Citadel

eisner sm.jpgOkeh, maybe the title is a bit over-dramatic. However, there’s a lot of visual art going on in town this weekend.

In fact, there are so many openings happening tonight, that if you come Downtown between, say, 7 and 9 pm, it’ll feel like an Art Crawl. Rochester area artist Rana Raeuchle is at ArtOnWater Gallery, a collaboration with ArtOrg, there’s a Merry Month of May craft boutique at Grezzo Gallery, featuring fifteen local artists, and it’s Feedback Junkie, six emerging artists from St. Olaf and Carleton Colleges, at the Northfield Arts Guild.

Friday night features Kim Bloom at the Hideaway, 7 to 9 pm, Companydance Spring Concert, 7:30 pm, in Kelsey Theater on the St. Olaf Campus, Holiday by Philip M. Barry, 7:30 pm, at the Northfield High School Auditorium, Jazz 1 Concert at Buntrock Commons, 8:15 pm, on the St. Olaf Campus, and Jon Manners at the Tavern Lounge.

Saturday night again has Kim Bloom at the Hideaway and Companydance Spring Concert at St. Olaf, and Holiday at the High School, as well as Cam Waters at the Tavern Lounge and Marty Anderson at the Contented Cow.

Sunday there’s more visual art. The St. Olaf Senior Show opens at the Dittman Center, 2 pm on the St. Olaf Campus. There’s also the Chapel Choir Oratorio Concert, 2 pm, in Boe Memorial Chapel on the St. Olaf Campus, Politics and a Pint, 6 pm, at the Contented Cow, Northfield Youth Choirs Spring Concert: “Bought Me a Cat”, 7 pm, in Boe Memorial Chapel on the St. Olaf Campus, and Jazz 2 and 3 Concert, 7 pm, in Buntrock Commons, St. Olaf Campus.

  2. A note from Jon Manners:
    Hey All,
I will be playing at The Tavern this FRIDAY, the 2nd of May, start time is 8pm. I’ll be bringing along my apparently extremely rare, vintage and valuable Mu-Tron Octave Divider. I recently found out just how valued these things are on eBay. WOW! A true collectors item! Anyway, since everybody wants one and will apparently go to any length to acquire one, I figure I should dig mine from the dusty equipment bin, clean it up and try it out. Maybe I’ll like it! Or maybe it will soon be seen at auction on eBay… 🙂 Want to hear what one of these puppies does? Come to the Tavern on Friday…
    -Jon
