The Northfield Downtown Development Corporation and Northfield Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a seminar on customer service Tuesday morning. Dr. Scott Taylor of South Central College presented a brief overview of the keys to providing good service.
Scott pointed out that in order to make “Shop Local” more than just a slogan, we need to treat customers the way they want to be treated. He said that every business needs to have a vision, expectations, procedures, and feedback systems to ensure good customer service.
He also said that that customer service goes beyond the human interaction and includes the ambience, such as dress, the store’s entrance, signage, and even the store’s bags. Scott will be meeting with the attendees at their businesses to follow up on elements of a successful ambience.
