Check out this way cool thing in Downtown Northfield.  It’s a horse tethered to a hitching post.

The horse sculpture is courtesy of swag (423 Division Street).  This one-of-a-kind store/gallery offers a great selection of regionally-designed and hand-crafted items, a number of which are of dramatic size.

The hitching post style bike rack was identified by the NDDC’s ad hoc Action Squad, approved by the Historic Preservation Commission, purchased using Tax Increment Financing District residuals (also known as “Streetscape” funds), and installed by the City of Northfield staff.

It’s a really great combination of pieces that livens up the downtown landscape, contributes to Northfield’s sense of place, and…let’s face it…is a whole lot of fun.
