What about Nordas?

In the “Who Should Annex Whom?” discussion, folks have suggested Dunfield and Northdas as possible names for the combined entity…

…how about Nordas?

LEAGUE HOSTS MEETING WITH NORTHFIELD DUNDAS PLANNING COMMISSION CHAIRPERSONS

The Northfield League of Women Voters (LWV) will continue it’s “4th Monday” public meeting series on July 24th.

Every fourth Monday of each month at 7 pm, in the Northfield Public Library’s first floor meeting room, the LWV hosts a lightly moderated discussion of an issue of current interest or concern to the community.

The July meeting, “Who Should Annex Whom?”, will center on the provocative subject of the relationship between Northfield and Dundas.

If annexation occurred, would it be “Dunfield”, or “Northdas”? Who has the most pressing growing need for city services; who pays a higher residential property tax; who is more constrained with respect to expansion and acquisition of land? Are there benefits to merging, or are independence and community identity impediments to shared growth?

Join the chairpersons of the Northfield and Dundas Planning Commissions for this very current topic of discussion.

Generally the League takes no position on these topics and is hosting these meetings to enable ideas and voices to be heard. Each month’s topic will be announced on the Northfield Library Bulletin Board and the week before the meeting in the Northfield News.

The League’s goal is to stimulate public involvement and enable citizens’ voices … to share information, gather input, and encourage civic participation in the defining issues of our community.
