In response to all the thoughtful and insightful discussion surrounding the recent closing of a popular downtown restaurant, the Northfield Downtown Development Corporation will focus on the issues behind the headlines at our upcoming Downtown Forum.
The current challenges are many and the potential solutions are complex. Among the topics to be covered are: the double-edged challenge of rent rates, the community’s responsibility to businesses and businesses’ responsibility to the community, high property taxes, the considerable cost of maintaining and enhancing historic buildings, the effectiveness of available financial tools, and downtown as a business incubator. Guest “experts” include Lee Lansing, Norman Butler and Victor Summa.
The NDDC’s Monthly Downtown Forum will be held on Tuesday, January 9th, 8 am in the Riverview Conference Room of the Historic Archer House Hotel. Coffee and cookies will be served.
