Hot Times for Cold Nights

Hemingway_KeyWest.jpgYeah, it’s cold outside. However, there are plenty of hot times to be had in Downtown, Uptown, and all around Northfield this weekend.

On Friday, the evening kicks off with the Cajun Hot Soles at the Upstairs Rueb, produced by ArtOrg, from 7 to 11 pm. Experience a Louisiana dance hall in a Minnesota club atmosphere. At 8 pm, it’s the annual Carleton Faculty Guest Artist Concert, with the David Singley Quartet at the Carleton College Concert Hall. Then it’s actually opera, yes opera, with the performance of Ravel’s “The Bewitched Child” at Urness Recital Hall, on the St. Olaf College campus. There’s also the Key West Rejects (pictured at above?) at Froggy Bottoms. Finally, It’s Norwegian Cowboy at the Tavern Lounge, on the river side of the Archer House.

Saturday night starts off with the Gao Hong Concert, 6 pm at the Northfield Middle School. It’s a celebration of Chinese New Year that will benefit the Northfield Rotary Club International Youth Exchange. There’s Caribbean Night at the Contented Cow, with the grand opening of the Snug. Finally, it’s Relativity, with Toby Jensen, Sandy Jensen and Linda Grimm, at the Tavern Lounge.

The weekend doesn’t end until Monday morning, and Sunday night will offer a Northern Roots (Music) Session at the Cow.
