Hopefully, the Weather Will Co-operate – Mayfly Music Festival Launches the Weekend

Like most Minnesotans, I’ve spent way too much time looking at weather forecasts this Spring.  At this point, I’m visualizing one of those perfect evenings in our historic, scenic, authentic downtown, sitting in the setting sun by the Cannon River, sipping my adult beverage of choice, and listening to some of the many talented local musicians.  Oh, the Mayfly Music Festival, three days and ten bands (or something like that) could be so great…if the weather will just co-operate.  I’ll keep visualizing.

Thursday, May 19th: Mayfly Music Festival – New Moon Trio, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Spruce Top Review, 8:00 to 10:30 pm., and Study Hall, 11:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Contented Cow; Northfield Wine Club (Open to the Public) Presents Summer Sippers, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., The Grand Event Center; and Alison Rae, 8:30 to 11:00 p.m., Tavern Lounge.

Friday, May 20th: Mayfly Music Festival – Carey Langer, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Peter Diggins and Friends, 8:00 to 10:30 p.m., and Walker Brothers Band, 11:00 p.m. to 1 a.m., Contented Cow; A Midsummer Night’s Dream, 7:30 p.m., ARTech; The Semaphore Repertory Dance Company, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., Arena Theater on the Carleton College campus; Sasha Mercedes, 8:00 to 11:30 p.m., Tavern Lounge; Carleton Choir and Carleton Singers, 8:00 to 9:30 p.m., Concert Hall on the Carleton College campus; and Chris Silver Band, 9 p.m., 620 Grill.

Saturday, May 21st: Mayfly Music Festival – Dime Store Watch, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., Marty Anderson & The Goods, 8:00 to 10:30 p.m., The Uptown 5, 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Contented Cow; High School Choir Concert, 7:30 p.m., Northfield Middle School Auditorium; A Midsummer Night’s Dream, 7:30 p.m., ARTech; and MoeDell, 8:00 to 11:30 p.m., Tavern Lounge.

Sunday, May 22nd: Northfield Troubadors Men’s Chorus, 2 p.m., St. John’s Lutheran Church; The Semaphore Repertory Dance Company, 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., Arena Theater on the Carleton College campus; Politics & a Pint, 6:30 p.m., Northern Roots Session, 7:30 p.m., and Quiz Night, 8:00 p.m., all at the Contented Cow.
