The Bridge Square design review process is nearing conclusion. The 3rd and Final Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14th, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., in the 2nd Floor Training Room of City Hall, 801 Washington Street, in Northfield, MN.
Bridge Square, the heart of our community, has served many purposes over the past 150+ years. As a muddy parking lot for John North’s mill to the outdoor reception area for European royalty, with community band concerts and political activism rallies, from Garden Club flowers to DJJD bank raids, Bridge Square has hosted a wide variety of activities.
The Bridge Square process has included design professionals, elected and appointed officials, and City staff; it has been open to community input from the very beginning. The process started last September with the now-defunct Streetscape Task Force, and included Open Houses in October and November.
Based on community input from the two previous Open Houses, the design professionals have prepared a variety of possible design options. Interested community members are encouraged to attend this final Open House to review and comment on these redesign ideas.
